Things That You Should Understand About Secondary Air Injection Systems.
Do you have any knowledge about secondary air injection systems? But those who know a lot about vehicles and the engine of a vehicle probably know what this means. Some of the people do not have a clue on this. This article is going to help you understand what we mean by secondary air systems.
Secondary air injection system is a system that injects air into the exhaust stream to allow full combustion of the exhaust gases. This is a strategy that controls emulsion in vehicles. The way air is injected in the exhaust systems determines the way this strategy works. Also the point of entrance of the air determines the way the strategy works. This has not been the same in the cause of revolution of technology.
The first systems used to inject air into the exhaust stream through the point that was too close to the engine. This kind of systems could produce oxygen that burnt all unburnt fuel inside the exhaust before it was ejected. On those first days of an invention of these systems, there used to be more unburnt fuel in the exhaust stream. But the injection of air burnt that fuel to ensure they are not ejected to the environment. As a result they worked so well and this helped to reduce the amount of unburnt fuel the exhaust.
Secondary air injection systems come in two types that is the umped air injection system and the aspirated air injection systems. First, let us look at pumped air injection systems. Pumped air injection system is a system that uses air pump. The air pump is turned by the engine through the motor. So as to filter the large dirt that is capable of damaging the system, the screen is rotated. Under minimal pressure, the filtered air gets into the injection point. There is a type of valve that is called the check valve. It is a valve that prevents air getting back to the injecting system. If it happens that the exhaust gets into the air injecting system, a serious damage could result.
Aspirated air injection systems uses negative pressure in the exhaust when the engine is at idle state. The aspirator valve closes the air injection pumping point and as a result, clean air gets into the exhaust. This valve is normally very sensitive. Short negative pressure gets into the exhaust when the engine is at the idle state. These pressure results to air getting into the exhaust system through the aspirator valve. Most of the modern vehicles such as Toyota use this kind of systems.
